Daimler Buses has been developing the new Mercedes-Benz eCitaro REX electric bus for some time. Fuel cells will be installed on the vehicle, which will increase the range of up to 400 km, which is more than decent for transporting passengers over short distances.
Such an order for Daimler Buses was issued by a large German transport operator SWEG with the aim of operating new Mercedes-Benz eCitaro REX electric buses in the future.
It should be noted that the full installation of hydrogen plants is made on the novelty will not, although Daimler Buses is not the first year engaged in the development of passenger transport of this type. Some models can already be found on the routes.
If we talk about the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro REX with hydrogen installation, SWEG plans to release them on routes in the southern district of Baden in 2022. Of course, first the electric bus will pass the necessary tests in Hamburg.
Daimler Buses is constantly trying to increase the range of their vehicles. For example, this year Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric buses will get new Akasol batteries. A little later it is planned to equip the machines with solid fuel batteries.
